The following appointments were made
for 1997:
Rita Conlin
Planning Commission
Steve DeLapp
Parks Commission
Lee Hunt
Maintenance Advisory Committee
Wyn John
Fire Department
Susan Dunn
Solid Waste Advisory Committee
Dunn/Conlin
1-94 Task Force
6. CITY ENGINEER'S REPORT:
A. Resolution No. 97-2 requesting "No Truck Traffic" on 30th Street
Tom Prew reported at the informational meeting held In December, the residents on 30th Street
complained about the number of trucks which use that street as a short cut to the Old Village
area. In the past MN/DOT has rejected requests to prohibit trucks on Municipal State Aid Streets
such as 30th Street. Prew recently was told by MN/DOT that this is an issue that they may be
reviewing and suggested that if the City would like trucks prohibited from 30th Street, we should
submit a resolution requesting this. A map should be submitted to show alternative routes.
WS/P Hunt/Del-app - to approve Resolution No. 97-2, as amended, A Resolution requesting "No
Truck Traffic" on 30th Street and direct the staff to submit the necessary material to MWDOT for
their review. (Motion passed 5-0).
B. Water System Interconnection Study
In the City's recently approved Community Water Supply Plan it was recommended that a study
be prepared to determine the feasibility of providing an emergency interconnection with Cimarron.
This Interconnection would provide both the Old Village's water system and Cimarron's water
system with a backup water supply. Tom Prew recommended at the same time studying an
interconnection with the Lake Jane Area water system for the same backup use. This
interconnection would be a shorter length, but would require an amendment to our agreement
with Oakdale. The estimated costs to complete this study is $7,500.00 which includes surveying,
water system modeling, and public hearings.
