Motion passed 4-0). <br />Mary Leslie informed the Council she was a recent participant in a car accident at this intersection where <br />both cars were totaled. The visual impact at this site is poor because of the cars pulling in and out the gas <br />station, trucks or buses are parked at the gas pumps, street signs and telephone poles, cars tuming into <br />Brockman motors, and pulling out of turning lanes. Cars are traveling at high speed. There is no reduced <br />speed for the school zone. The City deserves controls at this intersection and a reduced speed. Mayor John <br />indicated the traffic at this intersection is a concern to the Village Commission and is in their general study. <br />Councilor DeLapp had an idea where there were stoplights that were phased together at both ends of the <br />City. After the Village Commission meeting, the Council asked this item be placed on a future agenda to <br />discuss options with the City Engineer for a traffic study to prove to MnDOT there is a problem <br />E. Committee to evaluate the Governance of Water Management in Washington County (follow-up <br />from May 19, 1998 meeting) <br />M/S/P Hunt/DeLapp — to suggest Mayor Wyn John or Councilor Sue Dunn serve as representatives from <br />Lake Elmo. Countryside Wood Products Resolution and Site Development Agreement (Will be on next <br />agenda) <br />11. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS: <br />Councilor Hunt, Administrator Kueffner and Administrative Secretary Young met with John Redpath, <br />Tautges, Redpath to prepare a proposal for certification of compliance for year 2000. Funding for this <br />proposal will be taken out of the computer budget. Question asked what the Fire Department, Maintenance <br />Dept, and Parks Dept, doing with their computer. <br />12. CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT: <br />A. 1998 Pay Increases (Deferred to June 8" meeting) <br />Employee evaluation and salary recommendations were distributed to the Council at the May 20 workshop. <br />B. Consolidation Study Update <br />The Council will call in schedules in order to get the Board and Council together week of 22"a <br />C. Planner Candidate Interviews <br />M/S/P Hunt/DeLapp — to call a special council meeting for June 8, 5 p.m. to interview the City Planner <br />candidates. (Motion passed 4-0). <br />There will not be a quorum for the June 16'h Council meeting because council members will be attending <br />the League of Minnesota Cities Conference in Duluth. Tom Prew had indicated he wanted to hold a public <br />hearing on proposed assessments for Janero Avenue. <br />M/S/P DeLapp/Johnston — to move the Council' meeting to Monday, June 15, 1998.
