I. REGULAR FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE - an employee retained on a non - <br />temporary basis who works forty (40) hours or more per week <br />on a regular schedule throughout the year. <br />J. STEWARD - An employee designated by the UNION for the purposes <br />of communicating with the EMPLOYER on matters of interest to <br />either party; and representing bargaining unit members in <br />the union grievance process. <br />K. TEMPORARY OR SEASONAL EMPLOYEE - an employee retained to fill <br />a full-time or part-time position which is of a provisional <br />or seasonal nature. <br />L. TERMINATION - a complete separation of an employee from City <br />employment. Termination can be voluntary, through <br />resignation or retirement, or involuntary, through discharge <br />by the City. <br />M. UNION - The American Federation of State, County and Municipal <br />Employees, Council 5. <br />ARTICLE 3: NON-DISCRIMINATION <br />It is the City's policy to provide equal employment opportunity <br />to all employees and applicants for employment in accordance with <br />all applicable equal employment opportunity -affirmative action <br />laws, directives and regulations of Federal, State and Local <br />governing bodies or agencies thereof. <br />ARTICLE 4: UNION SECURITY <br />A. In recognition of the UNION as the exclusive representative: <br />A.1 The EMPLOYER shall deduct an amount sufficient to <br />provide the payment of regular dues established by the <br />UNION from the wages of all employees authorizing, in <br />writing, such deduction on a form designated and <br />furnished for such purpose by the UNION. The employer <br />will deduct a "fair -share" fee according to Minn. Stat. <br />179A from the wages of those employees choosing not to <br />join the union and provide the fair share fee to the <br />union through an equivalent process. Only the duly <br />certified exclusive representative shall be granted <br />payroll deduction of dues and fair share fees for <br />employees covered by this AGREEMENT. <br />A.2 The EMPLOYER shall remit such deductions monthly to the <br />appropriate designated officer of the UNION with a list <br />of the names of the employees from whose wages <br />deductions were made. <br />A.3 The UNION shall certify to the EMPLOYER, in writing, <br />the current amount of regular dues to be withheld and <br />any fair share assessments authorized by law. <br />4 <br />
