LAUDERDALE CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING MINUTES <br />HELD REMOTELY VIA TELECONFERENCE <br />Page 2 of 3 May 11, 2021 <br />At the last meeting, the Council discussed staff proposed changes to the zoning ordinance to <br />address building and zoning related questions that have arisen with the increase in new <br />construction and development on previously unbuilt lots. The changes have been reviewed by the <br />city attorney. After the public hearing, the ordinance may be amended, tabled, or adopted as the <br />City Council sees fit. <br />Mayor Gaasch opened up the floor at 7:07 p.m. to anyone in attendance interested in addressing <br />the Council. There being no one interested in speaking, Mayor Gaasch closed the floor at 7:08 <br />p.m. <br />Councilor Grove made a motion to adopt Ordinance No. 21-02 Amending Title 10, Chapter 4 of <br />the Code of Ordinances Regarding General Provisions. This was seconded by Councilor Moffatt <br />and carried unanimously on a roll call vote. <br />Discussion/Action Item <br />A. Resolution No. 051121B — A Resolution Rejecting the 2021 Sanitary Sewer Cleaning and Lining <br />Project Bids <br />The sewer lining project bids came in higher than anticipated this spring. The difference was in the <br />lining materials, as their production was impacted by the Texas storms. Recent bidding shows the <br />costs have come down. Staff recommends rejecting the bids received in April and having the city <br />engineer rebid the project. <br />Councilor Moffatt made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 051121B A Resolution Rejecting <br />the 2021 Sanitary Sewer Cleaning and Lining Project Bids. This was seconded by Councilor <br />Pulford and carried unanimously on a roll call vote. <br />B. Zoning Ordinance Update Proposal from Swanson Haslcamp Consulting <br />Jennifer Haslcamp of Swanson Haslcamp Consulting prepared a proposal for updating the Cit07 <br />zoning ordinance. Administrator Butkowski answered questions regarding how the cost would <br />be budgeted for. <br />Councilor Pulford made a motion to approve the proposal from Swanson Haslcamp Consulting. <br />This was seconded by Councilor Moffatt and carried unanimously on a roll call vote. <br />Additional Items <br />A. Legislative Updates <br />Councilor Darns said he recently spoke with State Senator Marty and Police Chief Mangseth <br />about drag racing on 280. Unfortunately, there are no bills this session that would stiffen <br />penalties for racers. <br />Darns mention the ongoing conversation with Representative Hausman regarding the housing <br />bill that would negatively impact cities' local control over land use regulations relating to density <br />and planned unit developments. <br />
