REPORTS <br />Mayor Coughlin reported he had met with Senator Steve Novak and Representative Barbara <br />Haake in Senator Novak's office, to discuss the legislative thrust in resolving the airport issues, <br />with hopes of doing so prior to the beginning of the Legislative Session in February. He <br />indicated many significant issues were addressed, and he had come out of this meeting feeling <br />quite encouraged. He commented that of the myriad of meetings he has attended as Mayor, this <br />was by far the most enjoyable, adding that the comedic interchange between Senator Novak and <br />Representative Haake was extremely entertaining. He stated these are very quality people, who <br />bring great attributes to the table, and their work will greatly assist with the airport issue. <br />Mayor Coughlin reported he had the high honor of serving as Master of Ceremonies at the <br />inauguration of the new mayor of the city of Roseville. Mayor-elect, John Kysylyczyn of <br />Roseville, who had requested he officiate at this event, was sworn in by Governor Jesse Ventura, <br />that date. Mayor Coughlin extended his congratulations to Mayor Kysylyczyn, adding his thanks <br />for the unique honor of being asked to participate. <br />City Administrator Whiting reported that to staff's awareness, the City experienced no problems <br />associated with Y2K, and according to the Police Department, New Year's Eve was relatively <br />quiet. <br />City Administrator Whiting reported the City of Mounds View received an award from the <br />National League of Cities for its Plan Book for the housing stock in the community. He <br />explained that City staff worked with several other Metropolitan communities to prepare this <br />guide to assist in the remodeling of older homes in the community. He extended his appreciation <br />to Community Development Director, Rick Jopke, and the entire Community Development <br />Department staff, for their contributions toward this effort. <br />No further reports were considered. <br />7. Contractors Licenses for Approval. <br />Mayor Coughlin asked the Council if anyone would like to remove Items for discussion. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Thomason.
