Motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Smith presented a letter to the council written to him by Mayor Gibson stating <br />the 1958 Financial Statement was not correct and pointing out other inconsistencies in <br />the Clerk's office. Clerk Smith proved that the 1958 statement is correct financially and <br />in form in accordance with requirements set by the State Auditor. In view of this information <br />the council directed I•}ayor Gibson to write a letter to the Village and County Attorney <br />(who received a copy of the letter written to Clerk Smith:) and that the letter to the <br />two attorneys indicate that Mayor Gibson was incorrect in his assumption that the <br />Financial Statement was not correctly prepared. Mayor Gibson also stated within his <br />letter that the Deputy Clerk was not keeping tle hours prescribed by the council. The <br />Deputy Clerk declared that she had no days absence from work since the day she was hired <br />and that she had ra. tely come to work late and had not left early ulless' ahelhad to make <br />a bank deposit. The Deputy Clerk pointed out that she had been kept 20 minutes to a half <br />hour at times beyond the end of the days work to facilitate village business, morsoften <br />than when she had left early. In regard to the Deputy Clerk not having been authorized <br />a vacation as stated in the letter from Mayor Gibson, the Clerk reiterated and the <br />council agreed that the Deputy Clerk was granted a weeks leave with pay and one week <br />without pay for the year of 1959.
