Minutes of the MeetAng of October 10, 1960 (Page 3) The subject of Mr. Howard Dahlgren being allowed to do pri- vate development work on subdivision within the village was brought to the attention of the council by Mr. Stole. Motion made be Crane, seconded by Hodges that Mr. Dahlgren be allowed to carry on private dovolopment work within the village. Upon discussing the subject Mr. Christensen stated that the council should gibe consideration tka* and thought as to why the previous council declared it a policy that Mr. Dahlgren not be allowed to carry out private development work within the village. Mr. Stole also stated that Mr. Dahlgren's request was that he not be allowed to do private work requested by several citizens of the village as long as he is the village planning consultant. Mayor Crane therefore withdrew his motion and Mr. Hodges with- drew his second. This matter to be discussed at a future council me eting. The monthly report of the Police Commission was read by Mr. Blanchard who also broug'it up the subject of recent accidents on Highway #loalong the new portion. He stated that there are no road signs, speed limits, etc., on t:-iis highway and there have been four rec::nt accidents involved on this stretch of highway. Mr. Christensen than stated that he would call Mr. Graves of the Highway tiopartment to determine is something could be done about this situation. Mr. Hodges reported on the activities of the Recreation Com- mittee kho held a meeting on October 5, 1960. He stated that the Recreation Committee recommends hiring Mr. Amos Birdsall as a fill time Recreation employee and pay him from the recrea- tion fund alloted in the 1961 budget at the rate of 3200.00 a month. The council discussed the matter and decided that this matter should be considered at a latter date. Mr. Hodges also stated that sod had been laid behind t'ie backstop at Oak- wood field. He also stated that the council should consider the possiblit; of a lease from Mr. Kenneth Simonson to use his land adjoining te ice skating rinks near Hillview and Greenfield. Mr. Hodges also reported that Mr. Birdsall is now building dykes for t Hockey and ice rinks at this time, Mr: Walter Skiba posed the question of whether the skating pond could be built by the new well t, use the water which will be pumped about the time of the first freeze -up this winter. Mr. Hodges stated that the Recreation Committee would check into this and determine its feasibility. Mr. Piehowski, village buildin,; inspector, reported to the council on a substandard house on Long Lake Road. The council directed all three inspectors to inspect this house and prepare a report to the council at the next meeting,. Mr. rieIowski also reported that Mr. Jim Haluptzak living at 7806 Gloria Circle requested *ka *xa a building permit which involves splitting his lot in order t: build a new home and leave the present home until the new building is completed. Notion b Cr seconded by Malvin to allow the Building- Ins- ),•ctcr to issue said permit providing that the old home be moved by October 10, 1961. 4 ayes, motion carriod.
