-3- <br />Mr. Charles Mertensotto, attorney representing Dailey Homes, the owner of the <br />property stated that the change in zoning to R1 from Commercial would depress the <br />market value of hio clients property. <br />Mr. Richard Gillman, 7565 Groveland Road stated that Mr. Thorsen purchased the land <br />as R1 and would not be losing any money. <br />Mr. Arnold Marquette, 7584 Groveland Road stated he would not want commercial devel- <br />opment there because the streets were too narrow. <br />There were no further comments from the floor. <br />MSP (Baumgartner Johnson) To authorize the change in zoning from B3 to R1 for Lots <br />8 and 9 Spring Lake Park Knolls Addition because the subject property is spot zoned, <br />commercial zoning would cause traffic problems thereby endangering the safety of the <br />residents and the welfare of the neighbors in the immediate area, and taking into <br />consid ration the recommendation of Midwest Planning and the City Planning Commission. <br />5 Ayes <br />Prior to the vote Mayor Neisen cautioned the Council that they mu: :t only consider <br />the health, safety, and welfare of the residents in considering this matter. <br />Attorney Mertensotto asked if this was the final action on this matter. Attorney <br />Meyers declared that an ordinance amendment will be prepared for the next meeting. <br />MSP (Neisen- Hodges) To adjourn the special hearing at 8 :49 P.M. 5 Ayes <br />Neisen called the Regular Meeting back to order. <br />MSP (Neisen Baumgartner) To hire the following individuals for the Park and Recreation <br />Department Summer Activities at the salary specified: <br />NAME ACTIVITY SALARY <br />Cindy Mortenson Guitar 9.00 per hour <br />Raymond Schwabe Tennis 4.00 per hour <br />Raymond Schwabe Baseball 2.50 per hour <br />Dan Thompson Tennis 4.50 per person <br />Rob Brown Golf $15.00 per hour <br />Pat Hollenhorst Yoga 9.00 per hour <br />Mary Jane Olson Gymnastics $10.00 per hour <br />Lorrie Hillsdale Playgrounds 2.40 per hour <br />William Carroll Playgrounds 2.50 per hour <br />Helen Percic Playgrounds 2.50 per hour <br />Alan Rollins Playgrounds 2.60 per hour <br />Catherine Flynn Playgrounds 2.10 per hour <br />b ndy Peterson Playgrounds 2.10 per hour <br />and to hire Tim Callander and Craig Ryan to work on parks during the summer months <br />at a rate of pay of $2.50 per hour effective June 10, 1974; to provide a salary <br />increase to Swen Thelin from $2.50 per hour to $3.00 per hour effective June 10, <br />and an increase for Arlene Stafford from $2.90 to $3.10 per hour during 1974. <br />5 Ayes <br />
