Mounds View City Council May 24, 1982 <br />Regular Meett n$ Page Three <br />Councilmember Forslund informed the Council that <br />the Planning Commission has requested a joint <br />meeting of the City Council and Planning Commission <br />to go over the code revisions. Mayor McCarty <br />replied they could discuss it at the next agenda <br />session. <br />Mayor McCarty closed the public hearing and reopened <br />the regular meeting at 7:57 PM. <br />Motion /Second: Blanchard /Doty to approve the <br />first reading of Ordinance 313 and waive the <br />reading. <br />Councilmember <br />Councilmember <br />Councilmember <br />Councilmember <br />Mayor McCarty <br />Hodges aye <br />Forslund aye <br />Blanchard aye <br />Doty aye <br />aye <br />Mayor McCarty pointad out what a tremendous task <br />had been accomplished in the code review and <br />thanked everyone involved for a job well done. <br />Mayor McCarty closed the regular meeting and <br />opened the second public hearing at 8:00 PM. <br />Mrs. Doelz explained they would like to put an <br />addition on the front of their home as they <br />need more space. She added their neighbors <br />were not against the plan. <br />Mayor McCarty asked when they would plan to <br />begin construction. Mrs. Doelz replied it would <br />be within two weeks of receiving approval. <br />Mayor McCarty stated the Planning Commission <br />and City Council are in the process of reviewing <br />the code and it is possible changes will be <br />made which would allow an addition of this type <br />without a variance being required. He added <br />that at present, the request is not allowable <br />under the code, and the applicant must demon- <br />strate a hardship, and it has already been <br />determined that such a hardship does not exist. <br />Mayor McCarty recommended the applicants with- <br />draw their request until the code review has <br />been completed. <br />Attorney Meyers also explained that the Planning <br />Commission has found no hardship involved, and <br />the City Council would have to find the Planning <br />Commission guilty of acting improperly in order <br />to override the Planning Commission's Findings. <br />Motion Carried <br />5B.
