Mounds View City Council August 22, 1983 <br />Regular Meeting Page Seven <br />Director Johnson reported that the new treatment <br />equipment in Wells #5 and #6 was put into opera- <br />tion on August 19 and seems to be working well. <br />Attorney Meyers reported the Legislature's <br />revised fine schedule went into effect August 1, <br />which is part of the overall trend of tightening <br />up. <br />Councilmember Doty stated that due to the problems 21. Reports of <br />the Mary Anderson development is running into Councilmembers <br />with the new requirement for sprinklers in their <br />townhouses, such as the services in the street <br />not being adequate, and the buildings not being <br />designed with sprinklers in mind, the City should <br />take into consideration excluding this type of <br />structure from the ordinance. He pointed out <br />that the type of construction Mary Anderson is <br />doing is much better than what is normally used. <br />He asked Attorney Meyers to do some investigating <br />into changing the ordinance and making some type <br />of adjustment. <br />Attorney Meyers replied that he was already directed <br />by Staff to research the question, and he has met <br />with Mary Anderson. He added that he has asked for <br />an interpretation from the State Building Official <br />office. He pointed out the code refers specifically <br />to apartments, hotels and motels. He stated he will <br />continue to research the problem, and that it may <br />require a repeal of the code. <br />Councilmember Doty reported the Park and Rec <br />Commission meeting has been postponed to September 1. <br />Councilmember Linke reported he had attended the <br />Ramsey County League of Local Governments meeting <br />on August 17, regarding the Metro Waste Control <br />Commission, and reviewed the information he had <br />received at the meeting. He added that a rep <br />from the Net Council would like to meet with the <br />City Council at a dinner meeting at 6 PM on Septem- <br />ber 2. <br />Councilmember Linke reported he had received a packet <br />of information from the MWCC, which he would have <br />available for anyone to look at or copy. <br />19.
