Mounds View City Council <br />Regular Meeting <br />Police Chief Ramacher reviewed the crime statistics <br />for the third quarter of 1988, reporting a 4; percent <br />drop in major crimes year to date 1988 versus 1987, <br />and a 9% decrease in less serious crimes. He also <br />reviewed the tentative timetable of the Civil <br />Service commission for the hiring of a new police <br />officer.' March 1 is the proposed start date. <br />Councilmember Hankner asked how monitoring was <br />going of the corner of Gru;,e1and and Ardan Avenue. <br />Policy Chit Ramacher explained they have spent <br />quite a bit of time there, and in monitoring over <br />500 cars, have issued only one ticket. <br />Park Director Saarion reviewed the third quarter <br />activities of the Park, Recreation and Forestry <br />departments. <br />Councilmember Hankner asked that the Forester <br />check behind '5601 and 5607 St. Michael, for oak <br />wilt. <br />Councilmember Blanchard asked if many trees were <br />impacted from the drought this past summer. Park <br />Director Saarion explained it is too early to <br />tell, and Rick would know more next year. <br />Public Works Director Minetor reviewed activities <br />of the Public Works and Building Inspections <br />departments for the third quarter. He reviewed <br />water consumption statistics and compared them to <br />the past two years. While revenue was up considera- <br />bly, the costs also went up with the increased <br />consumption. He also reviewed fourth quarter <br />projects which are underway. <br />Councilmember Wuori reported reaction has been <br />good so far to the snow plowing, but she noted a <br />problem area in the sidewalk on Quincy, where <br />removal was spotty. <br />Mayor Linke stated he would like to thank the <br />Department Heads and CityStaff for the work they <br />have done while he has been the City's Mayor. <br />Public Works Director Minetor handed out copies <br />of the proposed snow plowing policy. <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley explained it was a <br />Council decision to adopt the policy by resolution <br />at this time, and by ordinance later.
