-2' <br />Program Slides The first item of business v�s the presentation of Che fall <br />and Brochuse� recreation urochnre. The park and recreation deparement etaff <br />remarked that the brochure would be mailed on Friday� August �9� <br />and therefore� be in Mounds View's homes by Wednesday� Septea�er 3, <br />A brief discussion was held on characteriatics of many of the <br />twenty new programs being offered. <br />Also� staff presented a slide show with music from park and <br />recreation su�mner activities. <br />�. <br />1Yee Inspector Next� the Diseased Tree Inspector was introduced who briefly <br />repor[ed on his duties and progress of the diseased tree program. <br />He piesented a chart which showed the incidence of dutch elm and <br />oak wilt disease. Co�nissioners agreed that the tree inspector <br />should be invited'back for a full presentation on the forestry <br />program. <br />Capi[al The Director was called on to show slides of development <br />Improvements/ considerations in all parks. Maintenance, water� and <br />Five Ye�r plan aes[hetic problem areas were shown in addition to slides on <br />appropriate landscaping� mounding� and tot lots. <br />� <br />Be.`ore considering the five year plan. here are ca�ents and <br />reco�uetidations relating to the capital improvments program <br />from the August 14 meeting: <br />Co�issioner Haake suggested that a decision must be made on <br />the acquisition of the Downing property. She suggested thet it <br />now is not a priority because of the amount of money wanted for <br />the property. ` � ` <br />Cwmnisaioner Coplin seated that if the 18�000+ is not available <br />£or acquisition at the present time then the park should be <br />developed as is and possibly add this property later. <br />Chairman Peterson agreed that the 18�000+ ask for the Downing <br />preperty could be used for needed development and therefore at <br />the present time the pork departnent could not af£ord this <br />acquisition and to there£ore postpone it. <br />Co�issioner Haake moved to not aequire the Downing property <br />at tlu present time. The motion was seconded by Co�i.saioner <br />Coplin. The motion passed 4/2. <br />Co�issioner Coplin then moved recrnrmending that the developmen[ <br />of Woodcrest Park be the top priority in the Capital�Improvanents <br />Program for 1976. Hotion was seconded by Commissioner Weflen <br />and passed unanimously. <br />*This ends comnents from Auguat 14, <br />The Ca�iasion then began developing a five year plan and <br />priority lise for park development which included City Hall. <br />Hillview, Groveland, I.arobert, Oakwood� Greenfield� Arden and <br />woodcrest. <br />
