-z-
Special Meeting/ The Park and Recreation Director was called
Silver Yiew on to make a presentation on Silver View
(cnt.) Community Park.
He pointed out the purpose of the public meeting
was to generate community interest/support and
to invite citizen input into the planning process!
He also explained that the city was applying for
federal and state financial assistance for the
acquisition of 19 more acres.
At this time citizens Gerhard Voll and James
Bovitz attended the special meeting.
Next the Director introduced the Landscape Archi-
tect and opened the meeting up for discussion:
Commissioner Haake pointed out that we are
proposing 35 acres but that we may have to
settle for less, depending on available
funding and cost per acre.
Councilman Baumgartner questioned whether
or not we really need full sized soccer/
football fields.
Gerhard Voll commented that children can
play as early as 10 years old on a regula-
tion soccer/football field.
Councilman Baumgartner pointed out that
school fucilities and existing park facili-
ties should be considered. Also, he stated
that parking must be weighed heavily. What
street should parking empty onto?
It was suggested that the tennis courts be
placed sway iros any :ider.tial/sing7e
family homes.
Jim Bovitz questioned why 35 acres was needed
and how this acreage was determined? Can
we ask for more? He also suggested bikeways
away from roads.
Commissioner Coplin requested a sliding hill.
Gerhard Voll questioned whether or not we
needed four ballfields?
Chairperson Haake questioned each Commissioner
on parking and what street it should empty on-
to.
