The main polnt of hie presentation was that if you.era -
going to nllow for citizen input, be prepared to accept their.decieioneven
if you might disagree. Nothing can hurt you more than opening up the doors
of citizen input and then doing it your way in epite of what they eaid.
When ve get into developing our comprehensive plan, his report ahould be
mendatory reading foz all of us inwlved.
The eveningbanquetwea highlighted by che gueat apeakex Harlan Haneen,
Profeasor and Director of Contlnuing Education, U of M. Nie talk entitled,
"A Lifetime of Changes - A Light Hearted Look at our Common Journey From
Infancy to Agency". The neighborhood parks are desgined for [he 7-15 year old male.
3. Programs must reach out to where people ace 5 years from now, no[
where they are at [oday.
4. One of the major rolea of a municipality is to encourage outaide
"private" recrnation reaourcee to their counity rether than attempt
to be the panacea of all their cities recreation ills.
The luncheon session was delightful although quite scary as our gueat epeaker
John S. WOW!
1. 10 years from now we won't be able to get on a freevay with lesa
than 4 passengers.
2. Our natural resources will never dry up; we will jus[ reach a point
vhere we have to expend more energy to get the raw materials than
the materials can offer.
3.
