-2- <br />It was advised 6y City Attorney Meyers and suggested by <br />�irector Anderson that the Parks and Recreation Commissioners <br />become involved in a cooperative relationship with Kraus/ ''"- <br />Anderson, explaining the needs and interests of the community <br />and the important part that Silver View Park plays in the <br />city wide park and open space ptan. It was suggested that <br />a joint meeting with Staff, Commissioners> Attorney Meyers, <br />and Kraus/Anderson be held in January and be dedicated to <br />the Silver View Park issue. <br />Director Anderson reported that the acquisition of develop- <br />ment funding will be received sometime in 1979-1980 and <br />will total approximately b100,000.00. <br />Winter Skating Director llnderson reported that the present skating rink <br />ice development is exceltent. Ice will be ready for <br />skating within three more floodings. The weather has <br />cooperated perfectly. Rinks will open Saturday, December 76. <br />Times of operatiort are basicatly similar to last year except <br />for additional hours on Fridays and Saturdays. Schedule of <br />rink hours is as follows: , <br />hbndays - Thursdays 4:J0-9:00 p.m. <br />Fridays 4:00-70:00 p.m. <br />Saturdays 10:30 a.m. - 70:00 p.m. <br />Sundays 7:00-9:00 p.m. <br />Vacation Hours: � <br />hbndays - Saturday 10:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. <br />Sunday 1:00-9:00 p.m. <br />Director Anderson atso reported the absence of a shelter <br />building at Groveland Park. Lighting has been provided <br />at Edgewood Jr. High School rink. Lighting fixtures and <br />hockey boards are as yet being anxiously awaited for <br />placement at Greenfield Park. Contracts are being mailed <br />to recently interviewed rink attendants. The skating rink <br />season has been extended one week (weather permitting) 9n <br />order to make skating facilities available during Energy <br />Week (students are on one weeks school vacation).' Rink <br />closings are anticipated to occur February 26. <br />Visitor's Report Mr. and Mrs. Miller, 5287 Raymond Avenue attended the meeting <br />in order to express interest in the Lindy's Gymnastic program. <br />At present, the Recreation Department is not sponsoring the <br />program because of past financial burdens associated with <br />the pro9ram. The Commiss5on requested tbat staff continue <br />to offer the program in such a manner that the program would <br />remaSn seif-supporting. Staff w511 work witb Bob Lindberg, <br />coach of Lindy's Gymnastics. <br />Parks & Open Space Director Anderson distributed various cities' Parks and Open <br />Plan Space Plans for review. The Commission was asked whethzr <br />the Commission felt that such a plan was Drofitabte for _, <br />pursuit by Staff and Comm:ssioners. <br />
