NMD T0: Parks and Recreation Commissioners
FROM: Staff
DATE: January 24, 7979
RE: Silver View Park Acquisition Status
Enclosed is a letter that staff presented to Kraus/Anderson in response to
their initial land offer of 23.7 acres, 5 of which was low or under water.
As can be quickly surmised we were not pleased with their proposal and
currently are awaiting a repty.
In addttion staff contacted Mr. Dan Ingelsma, Vice Presd9ent of Kraus/Anderson
to inform him of our progress to date and he feit the issue could be resolved.
It is staff's contention that we must take a hard line stance to insure a
minimum of 30 acres of buildable or high property for the park site. Staff
will be presentin9 blob studies on Thursday to show the possible relationship
of facilities W the proposed site.
This remains a delicate situation as staff would prefer a shift in site locations
from a development standpoint, but the need for a large community park parcel is
of the utRUSt.
As reported at tbe last Comnission meeting the City has submitted the final
grant application for Phase One Oevelopment of Silver 4iew Park totalling
573,450.00. In addition to that the City has resubmitted our application to
the trails section for review and possible funding. At this time State Planning
has stated that we will be receiving at least 40% funding and potentially 60%
funding.
