September 27, 7979 <br />Parks & Resreation Commission Minutes <br />Page 3 <br />Burmeister made a motion to approve staff's recommendation <br />for park usage policy including: <br />1. park usage permits be available only to city residents <br />and local companies. <br />2. the park usage policy will be on a sliding scale which <br />is to be evaluated yearly. <br />3. park usage be encouraged rather than discouraged. <br />4. large people picnics or parties be discouraged because of <br />lack of space and accommodations. <br />Commissioner Silvis seconded the motion. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />1980 Budget Director Anderson reviewed the budget as proposed for 1980. <br />Preparation <br />Comprehensive Director Anderson reviewed the process of selecting a firm, <br />Parks & Open working with the project, time line, development and implementa- <br />Space Stuqy tion etc. Director Anderson also expressed the need for a <br />special meeting in early October for the selection of a firm <br />assuming the approval of the proposal by the City Council. <br />A firm will need to be selected in October because of the <br />weather timeline. <br />Staff report �irector Anderson reviewed the staff report. Chairman <br />Burmeister asked about the Cammunity Garden Plots. Director <br />Anderson replied that the gardens had a few p�-oblems includ5ng <br />weeds, water line, low areas, and the need for a hose attach- <br />ment at the water line. Hpproximately 60-70 sites were <br />used. The gardens will be better next year when these problems <br />are resolved. <br />Coimnissioner Linke reported that concrete footings are being <br />poured at the new Lakeside Park picnic shelter. <br />Adjournment Comnissioner Scott made a motion to adjourn the meeting. <br />Co�nissioner Linke seconded the motion. The motion passed <br />unanimously. The meet5ng adjourned at 8:55 p.m. <br />
