Mounds View City Council December 9, 2013 <br />Regular Meeting Page 4 <br /> <br />the City. She asked if a 30-day extension would assist in resolving the nuisance violations. 1 <br />Inspector Swalchick explained that a 30-day extension would allow Mr. Peterson to come before 2 <br />the City Council, and perhaps short-term headway could be made. However, this would not 3 <br />eliminate the collection of junk on the Peterson property. He believed that abatement was the 4 <br />only way to clean the property and bring it into compliance with City Code. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Council Member Mueller questioned how much time staff has spent on this abatement case. 7 <br />Inspector Swalchick estimated that he has spent 80 to 100 hours trying to resolve this matter with 8 <br />Mr. Peterson. 9 <br /> 10 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Flaherty/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8171, 11 <br />Authorizing the Abatement of Nuisance Code Violations at 7895 Eastwood Road. 12 <br /> 13 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 14 <br /> 15 <br />D. Resolution 8184, Setting the 2014 City Council Meeting Dates, Staff Retreat 16 <br />and the 2014 Town Hall Meeting. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane reviewed the 2014 City Council workshop and meeting dates, 19 <br />along with the dates proposed for the staff retreat and 2014 Town Hall meeting. She requested 20 <br />the Council adopt meeting dates as proposed. 21 <br /> 22 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Gunn. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8184, 23 <br />Setting the 2014 City Council Meeting Dates, Staff Retreat (February 11, 2014) and the 2014 24 <br />Town Hall Meeting (March 31, 2014, at 6:00 p.m.). 25 <br /> 26 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 27 <br /> 28 <br />E. Resolution 8190, Approving Various Appointments to City Commissions and 29 <br />Committees. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane reviewed the open seats on the City Commissions and 32 <br />Committees with the Council. She recommended the Council adopt a Resolution appointing the 33 <br />vacancies as recommended by staff. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Council Member Mueller asked how residents could find out further information on the open 36 <br />Commission or Committee positions. Assistant City Administrator Crane encouraged residents 37 <br />to contact City Hall or to view the City’s website. 38 <br /> 39 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Mueller.
