To Adopt Resolution 8558 in Support of the Ramsey <br />County “Start By Believing” Community Initiative. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty believed this was a valuable Resolution and offered his full support to this <br />initiative. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller was proud of the fact that the County was working together with all <br />local agencies to change begin working towards change. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br /> E. Building Safety Month Proclamation <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty read a proclamation declaring May 2016 to be Building Safety Month in the City <br />of Mounds View. <br /> <br />7. COUNCIL BUSINESS <br />A. 7:00 p.m. Public Hearing: Resolution 8559, a Resolution to Consider a <br />Honeybee Keeping License located at 8325 Greenwood Drive for Applicant <br />Hanna Frahm. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane requested the Council consider a honeybee keeping license <br />for Hanna Frahm at 8325 Greenwood Drive. She explained this was the City’s fourth bee <br />keeping request and noted Ms. Frahm met all City requirements. She reviewed where the hives <br />would be located on Ms. Frahm’s property. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty opened the public hearing at 8:09 p.m. <br /> <br />Hearing no public input, Mayor Flaherty closed the public hearing at 8:10 p.m. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause understood staff received no feedback from the neighbors. He <br />asked which direction the hives would open. Hanna Frahm, 8325 Greenwood Drive, reported the <br />hives would open to the west, away from the property lines. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller was pleased to see Ms. Frahm’s qualifications noting she had <br />completed a course from the University of Minnesota in Entomology. Ms. Frahm explained she <br />took the 8-hour course on the subject to learn more about the bee keeping and would be taking <br />another course next winter. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty questioned from where Ms. Frahm would be receiving her bees.
