Mounds View City Council June 27, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br /> <br />assistance of the Setter & Associates, the applications were whittled down to eight candidates <br />and these individuals were given a written exam. After reviewing the written exams five <br />candidates were interviewed by a panel of Mounds View city staff, Council members and New <br />Brighton Public Safety Director Bob Jacobson. Second interviews were held with the two top <br />candidates before the full City Council who recommended the hire of Nathaniel Harder to the <br />position of Mounds View Police Chief. The Police Civil Service Commission then certified an <br />eligibility list which placed the internal candidate at the top of the list, recommending that the <br />Council promote from within. <br /> <br />Council Member Hull asked who selected the two final candidates. Assistant City Administrator <br />Crane reported this was the consensus of the interview panel. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8602, <br />Approving the Hire of Nathan Harder to the Position of Mounds View Police Chief. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause thanked staff for allowing the entire Council to be involved in the <br />second interview process. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty discussed the lengthy hiring process that was followed and believed Mr. Harder <br />would serve the City well as the next Police Chief. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller thanked Deputy Chief Menard for his dedicated service to the <br />community. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />8. CONSENT AGENDA <br />A. Set a Public Hearing for Monday, July 11, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., to Consider the <br />Second Reading and Adoption of Ordinance 921, an Ordinance Opting Out <br />of the Requirements of Minnesota State Statue §462.3593, which Defines and <br />Regulates Temporary Family Health Care Dwellings. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Flaherty/Hull. To Approve the Consent Agenda as presented. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />9. JUST AND CORRECT CLAIMS <br /> <br />Finance Director Beer answered the Council's questions related to claims. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Meehlhause. To Approve the Just and Correct Claims as presented. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried.
