Mounds View City Council June 27, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting Page 6 <br /> <br /> <br />10. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />11. REPORTS <br />A. Reports of Mayor and Council. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller stated she attended the League of Minnesota Cities Conference June <br />14th through June 17th. She discussed the seminars and events she attended at the conference. <br />She was pleased to report she had completed her three-year term as a Director on the League of <br />Minnesota Cities (LMC) Board. She indicated she would be moving to the Ambassador <br />program at this point. She commended the City on becoming a GreenStep City. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller reported the Festival in the Park Committee met on June 21st and had <br />several new volunteers attend. She indicated there were still spots open for the car show and for <br />the craft fair. She explained the Festival in the Park Committee would meet again on Tuesday, <br />July 19th at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn believed the LMC Conference was excellent this year. She suggested the <br />Council members share notes from the sessions they attended at the next work session meeting. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause agreed with this recommendation. He provided further comment <br />on the sessions he attended at the LMC Conference. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated Twin Cities Gateway was considering hiring a Sports <br />Management Position. This individual would work to identify ballfields for outside groups <br />interested in hosting a tournament in order to better utilize the local facilities. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause explained he received a call from Bill Urbanski regarding the <br />sound wall on US Highway 10. He confirmed that MnDOT would be building a sound wall on <br />in conjunction with their 35W Managed Lane project. His concern was that MnDOT would be <br />sending a letter to adjacent residents to vote on whether or not they want the sound wall, and <br />residents may not realize the importance of this letter. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn reported a vote will been taken for all sound wall sections along 35W. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause wanted to make the residents of Mounds View aware that this <br />letter would be coming and to encourage them to vote in support of the sound wall. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause provided an update on the NYFS meeting he attended last week. <br />He explained he would be serving as the Chair of this group for the next year. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated he attended the Cable Commission meeting last week as <br />well and an update was provided regarding the Comcast negotiations, which was very positive.
