Mounds View City Council March 24, 2014
Regular Meeting Page 2

renovations to the Shoreview Library would begin in 2015. It was her hope that the expansion in
Shoreview would not adversely impact the Mounds View Library.

Finance Director Beer discussed the high-speed internet cable that the City installed for use at its
library noting the City was willing to partner with the County to advance the fiber connectivity.
Commissioner McGuire appreciated this suggestion.

Council Member Meehlhause asked if the House put TCAAP in its bonding bill. Commissioner
McGuire stated the House had not placed TCAAP in its bonding bill, which was becoming an
extremely frustrating situation. She indicated she and Representative Yarusso would continue
working on this issue to have bonding set aside for TCAAP in the Senate bill. She noted the
governor supports bonding for TCAAP. She encouraged the Council to contact the Senate
Bonding Chair regarding this matter.

Council Member Mueller requested further comment on the poverty issues in the northeast
metro. She encouraged the County to improve the mass transportation in Mounds View to assist
employees in getting to and from work. Commissioner McGuire appreciated this comment and
understood this was a concern for the northeast metro region. She explained she would bring this
concern to the County Board.

Mayor Flaherty stated County Road 10, a sound wall and the intersection of County Road H and
County Road 10 were concerns for Mounds View. He discussed the redevelopment taking place
in the City and thanked Commissioner McGuire for her time.

7.
