AE2S Backwash Study Report <br />August 28, 2017 <br />Page 2 <br />The proposed professional fees are as follows: <br />Phase 1 - (estimated 20 Hours) $3,200.00 <br />Phase 2 - (estimated 62 Hours) $9,800.00 <br />Phase 3 - To be added at a later date TBD* <br />Total Professional Services for Phases 1 and 2 $13,000.00 <br />Once the source of the contaminants are identified, AE2S will make preliminary <br />recommendations as to what steps should be taken to best address these specific <br />contaminants. These recommendations will take the form of a technical memorandum. <br />*The scope and fee to complete this proposal will be defined prior to beginning Phase 3. <br />Phase 3 is not part of the scope of the current proposal. <br />Public Works Staff informed the Council at the August 14, 2017, Council Meeting of the <br />compliance issue and the question of funding was raised. Staff met with Finance Director <br />Beerto discuss funding for this proposal. The 2017 budget for the Water Production Fund, <br />700-4825-3030, has a 2017 budget of $21,930.00, and a balance, as of August 9, 2017, <br />of $20,031.00. The Waste Water Fund, 730-4823-3030, has a 2017 budget of $8,200.00 <br />and a balance, as of August 9, 2017, of $7,651.00. Both accounts are trending under <br />budget and would be utilized to provide funding for the services of AE2S. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends the City Council approve the attached Resolution 8818 approving the <br />proposal from Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc. (AE2S), to <br />provide professional services for the Water Treatment Plant Backwash Waste Study <br />Compliance Issue.The proposal will be funded from the Water Production Fund, 700- <br />4825-3030, $6,500.00, and the Waste Water Fund, 730 4823-3030, $6,500.00, for a total <br />of $13,000.00. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Don Peterson <br />Interim Public Works Director <br />
