Mounds View City Council March 26, 2018 <br />Regular Meeting Page 7 <br /> <br />Public Works Director Peterson requested the Council approve building alterations and building <br />maintenance needs for the Community Center. He discussed the maintenance work that would <br />be completed with the Council. He explained the bathrooms for the locker room came in over <br />budget. Staff reviewed the quotes for the work in further detail and requested direction from the <br />Council on how to proceed. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated he would recommend the locker room bathrooms be <br />completed in 2019 due to the fact this expense was not budgeted for 2018. He reported the audio <br />upgrades were important to the Community Center and would help in bringing in more meeting <br />room rentals. <br /> <br />Council Member Bergeron agreed with this recommendation. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn asked what would be done with the old audio equipment. City <br />Administrator Zikmund did not believe there would be a market for the outdated equipment and <br />noted it would have to be recycled. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Gunn. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8936, <br />Approving Building Alterations and Building Maintenance Needs for the Community Center, <br />eliminating Item #3. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />9. REPORTS <br />A. Reports of Mayor and Council. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn encouraged the public to visit Texas Roadhouse on Tuesday, April 3rd <br />where 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the Mounds View Police Foundation. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn thanked McDonald’s for hosting Coffee with a Cop. She believed this <br />event was well received and well attended. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn invited the public to take in the Sounds of Music which would be put on <br />by the students at Pinewood Elementary April 19th through April 21st. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn noted Discover Aviation Days would be held on June 2nd and June 3rd. <br />She reported volunteers were needed to assist in putting on this great community event. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause commented on the Youth in Government program that was <br />sponsored through the YMCA. He noted the Model United Nations event was coming up and <br />noted 17 students from Mounds View would be participating. He provided the Council with an <br />update from the YMCA noting rentals at the Community Center were up from last year. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause reported he attended a Twin Cities Gateway Board meeting last <br />week and noted the City would be receiving a check in the amount of $8,037.
