Mounds View City Council February 8, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting Page 4 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />C. Resolution 8516, Approving the Joint Powers Agreement between Ramsey 2 <br />County and the City of Mounds View for New Voting System Acquisition 3 <br />and Operation. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane requested the Council approve a joint powers agreement with 6 <br />Ramsey County for new election voting equipment. She explained the new equipment has been 7 <br />certified and tested by Ramsey County. She noted the new equipment would be in place for the 8 <br />2016 election. Staff reported this was a budgeted expense for 2016 and recommended approval. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Acting Mayor Mueller asked if Mounds View staff would be trained on the new equipment. 11 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane stated she would be trained by Ramsey County on the new 12 <br />equipment. 13 <br /> 14 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8516, 15 <br />Approving the Joint Powers Agreement between Ramsey County and the City of Mounds View 16 <br />for New Voting System Acquisition and Operation. 17 <br /> 18 <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 19 <br /> 20 <br />D. Resolution 8517, Approving the Hire of Scott VanderVegt to the Position of 21 <br />Mechanic in the Public Works Department. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane stated Steve Vacek retired from his position as Public Works 24 <br />Mechanic in 2015. The City Council approved the advertisement for this position in November 25 <br />of 2015. Staff received 14 applications for this position and nine interviews were held. It was 26 <br />the consensus of staff to recommend Scott VanderVegt be hired for the position of Mechanic, 27 <br />contingent upon satisfactory drug test, background and reference checks. It was noted Mr. 28 <br />VanderVegt would begin his employment with the City on February 29th. 29 <br /> 30 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8517, 31 <br />Approving the Hire of Scott VanderVegt to the Position of Mechanic in the Public Works 32 <br />Department. 33 <br /> 34 <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 35 <br /> 36 <br />E. Resolution 8518, Approving the 2016 Public Works and Parks Seasonal 37 <br />Positions. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane reported the Council approves the hiring of seasonal 40 <br />employees annually each February. She noted the number of positions and pay would remain the 41 <br />same as 2015.
