Mounds View City Council February 8, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br /> <br />Approving the 2016 Public Works and Parks Seasonal Positions. 1 <br /> 2 <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 3 <br /> 4 <br />F. Resolution 8519, Approving a Revised Job Description and Authorization to 5 <br />Advertise for a Seasonal Intern in the Public Works Department. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane indicated the Public Works Department was requesting a 8 <br />seasonal intern. This intern was first approved in 2006 in lieu of a seasonal worker. She 9 <br />reported this position would be temporary and part-time in nature. She explained the last time 10 <br />the City had an intern in the Public Works Department was 2010. She reviewed the revised job 11 <br />description and recommended approval and authorization to advertise for the position. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Acting Mayor Mueller requested further information on the ArcView computer software 14 <br />program. Public Works Director Erickson explained this was the City’s GIS software. He 15 <br />provided further comment on how the intern would gain knowledge in the City’s GIS system 16 <br />through the internship. 17 <br /> 18 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Hull/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8519, 19 <br />Approving a Revised Job Description and Authorization to Advertise for a Seasonal Intern in the 20 <br />Public Works Department. 21 <br /> 22 <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 23 <br /> 24 <br />G. Resolution 8514, Approve Plans and Specifications and Authorize 25 <br />Advertisement for Bids, SUIP, Area I. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Public Works Director Erickson requested the Council approve plans and specifications and 28 <br />authorize advertisement for bids for Area I. He noted the designs for Area I were complete and 29 <br />all approvals were in place. He indicated Municipal State Aid funding was available to assist 30 <br />with the expense of Area I. He described the bidding process in further detail with the Council 31 <br />and recommended approval. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Acting Mayor Mueller asked which properties within the project area would be delayed to 2017. 34 <br />Public Works Director Erickson described the properties that would be delayed until 2017 as 35 <br />being those west of Quincy. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Acting Mayor Mueller questioned if the new contract would have the 21-day clause. Public 38 <br />Works Director Erickson commented this has been discussed by staff and would be written into 39 <br />the plans and specs. 40 <br /> 41 <br />Acting Mayor Mueller inquired if there was a penalty placed on contractors if they were not able 42 <br />to meet the 21-day clause. Public Works Director Erickson indicated he would have to be in 43 <br />touch with contractors as weather may keep contractors from meeting the 21-day deadline. 44 <br /> 45
