POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY WRITE-UP <br /> POSITION TITLE: Assistant t- City Administrator <br /> DEPARTMENT: Administration <br /> ACCOUNTABLE TO: City Administrator <br /> PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION <br /> To assist the City Administrator with the duties of that office, <br /> assume responsibilities of the City Administrator in his/her <br /> absence, and participate with the City Administrator in the <br /> development and direction of administrative services at a <br /> department head level of authority. Pprovide adminstrative <br /> assistance to the City Administrator in implementing the overall <br /> programs and policies of the City Council . <br /> MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY <br /> 1 . Assist City Administrator in day-to-day activities. Act <br /> as City Administrator in City Administrator' s absence . <br /> 2 . Assist in the coordination of multi-department activities <br /> to ensure effective working relationships . <br /> 3 . Act as in-house legal services coordinator for <br /> nonprosecutorial legal matters . Position is to work with <br /> departments in the review of draft ordinances, legal <br /> agreements, personnel agreements and administrative processes, <br /> and other legal oriented work prior to referral to the city <br /> attorney. This position will coordinate with the City <br /> Administrator on the level of legal expertise needed in such <br /> matters prior to referral to the city attorney. <br /> 34 . Act as department director for the Administration <br /> Department including direct supervision of personnel and <br /> direction of department administered programs . <br /> *5 . Act as Personnel Director for the City including <br /> responsibilities for: <br /> Develop and implement personnel policies <br /> Coordinate new employee hiring <br /> Coordinate employee evaluations <br /> Participate in labor negotiations and contract <br /> administration <br /> Coordinate City organization development and employee <br />
