Mr. Marty also discussed the regaining of the public's trust. <br /> Council Member Thomason expressed her positive experience with the retreat. <br /> Council Member Stigney expressed his positive experience with the retreat as well. Mr. Stigney <br /> stated everything is not resolved, but it was a step that things are identified that we have to have <br /> some follow-up session to deal with issues on a more detailed basis. , <br /> Mr. Whiting spoke on behalf of the staff. Mr. Whiting stated there were feelings of skepticism <br /> going into the meeting from staff. Staff had been through a few of these retreats. I think that <br /> being able to talk openly and honestly was not only necessary, but it was a theme that is needed <br /> for this kind of a job and business. Mr. Whiting stated success goes both ways. It doesn't only <br /> go between Council and staff, but is goes between City Hall and the community. Mr. Whiting <br /> stated April will be three years at Mounds View. Mr. Whiting stated working with three <br /> different mayors and stated it is difficult to get your feet on the ground for any length of time as <br /> to what is being required of you by the City. Mr. Whiting stated a frustration with knowing <br /> "where we are going." <br /> Mr. Whiting stated Mr. Neu spent two days working on the team work aspect with us, and that <br /> there is a need to come back for an additional day. <br /> Mayor Coughlin stated two items to report. Mayor Coughlin was down at the Capitol testifying <br /> on behalf of Representative Barbara Haake's airport legislation. The legislation did pass that <br /> committee and is now going to the State House Floor for consideration of the full House. <br /> Senator Novak is presently ushering similar legislation through on the Senate side. Anyone so <br /> inclined can certainly send a note to encourage this legislation. <br /> Mayor Coughlin stated Representative Barb Haake had a town meeting scheduled and had <br /> rearranged it seeing that the House of Representatives booked up all of her time and could not <br /> make it here. Mayor Coughlin stated she will have a town meeting here in Council chambers <br /> this next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., and anyone wishing to talk to her about the airport issue, or <br /> about anything else, should do so. <br /> Mr. Marty stated being unable to attend the last Planning Commission meeting. He is getting a <br /> copy of the minutes and did talk to one of the Planning Commission members. <br /> Mr. Marty stated there were three public hearings, all variances. One is for reduced side yard <br /> setback at 5302 Raymond Avenue. Kindercare wants to put a pylon sign on 2791 Highway 10, <br /> across from the bank, a variance for a pylon. Also, a public hearing for a detached garage in the <br /> front yard of 7805 Gloria Circle.
