these concerns and questions from residents, we are not on every street every day of the year.
Some potholes develop, sink holes develop, and particularly sink holes are dips that are
uncommon in the middle of the road are very important to us, because that means that there is
something wrong with the infrastructure below that. In this case,we did go up and televise that
sewer system the next day and did find that there were some more cracks in places where the
pipe had actually been displaced. The contractors who repaired that originally came up and
repaired it again, and they were up there for quite some time last Friday night, at no charge to us.
David Jahnke, 8428 Eastwood Road. Mr. Jahnke has just a concern about the expenses and
accountability of the City now with a truck for the golf course. Mr. Jahnke stated he has a
problem with the golf course. Mr. Jahnke has had a problem with the Bel Rae going from 4 to 6
million. Mr. Jahnke is concerned that now we are getting a new truck, or supposedly a new
truck. Mr. Jahnke is very concerned about cost of things that the City owns. Mr. Jahnke
requested the Council take a good look at these costs. It is the peoples' money that you folks are
spending. Mr. Jahnke was shocked at the attitude of telephone calls. Mr. Jahnke stated he has
never heard of somebody, companies allowing making telephone calls, personal telephone calls
from their business on company time, and have no track or accountability of it. Mr. Jahnke
stated a lady had called him today and she could not believe your comment about, "yes, it might
cost more to investigate it." Mr. Jahnke stated we should stop this. Mr. Jahnke stated we should t!
be accountable for the people that work for us. Mr. Jahnke was shocked to hear about the
telephone calls. It might be minor, but if all these minor things go on,then the major ones are
going to take place also.
Mayor Coughlin stated these will be discussed later on in the evening.
Jim Schmidt, 5446 Erickson Road. Mr. Schmidt stated it has come to his attention that during
the next year or two, T.H. 10 is going to be turned back over again to a County State Aid
Highway, as construction of 118, and 69, gets completed. Mr. Schmidt stated from what he
understands it is going to happen fairly abruptly when that one gets done that the State is going
to want to redesignate the road and we will have some say in what happens with accepting that
back. Mr. Schmidt stated he wanted to bring that to the attention of the Council that there is an
opportunity here where we can get some things that are needed in the City that have been
identified in the plan as well as redevelopment plan for Highway 10 that we could probably get
some monies from the State and definitely work with the County to get that road at least in good
repair and to some extent configured more to our liking as a City, and particularly also there is an
opportunity with cooperative agreement that starts between now and runs through October, or
fiscal 2001, where monies can be made available and Mr. Schmidt would encourage the City to -!
I
look into that to see if there is anything that can be addressed, because that is going to happen
about that same time.
Dan Mueller, 8343, Groveland Road. Mr. Mueller stated he has been to some of the Council
meetings in the past regarding "Groveland international speedway." Mr. Mueller stated this used
to be funny, but is no longer funny. Mr. Mueller stated he has been here several different times,
7 U:\CARIS\COUNCIL\MINUTES\MVCC22.MAR
