• A Phase I Environmental Study has been scheduled for the Bel-Rae. This will include
asbestos testing. We will be saving a great deal of money since the City can provide the
consultants with much of the information for the study and we are doing the asbestos testing
for both the HUD house and the Bel-Rae at the same time. In addition, a complete survey
has been completed on the Bel-Rae property. The survey includes building location,
boundary locations,topography, utilities, wetland, etc.
• It is very nice to have Bruce, Pam and Diane on staff. Their expertise and new energy will
help me in forging ahead with some economic development issues that have been on the
back burner for several months.
Cathy
PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY
PARKS:
Random Park has new playground equipment! The timber border landscaping and beautification
will be done as soon as time allows. The"Introduction to Random Play Equipment"will be held
Thursday, September 26.
Staff met with Sabri Ayaz and the new Wildwood Manor Property Manager and Board Member
Betty Wall Wednesday, July 31 to discuss the construction easement necessary for the pedestrian
bridge. Both Betty and Russ had their specific questions answered and felt comfortable bringing
the easement agreement to their respective groups for approval.
RECREATION:
This week culminates summer playground program with four days of Safety Camp. Although the
first day was rainy, the following days have been good weather. Safety Camp is a partnership with
Spring Lake Park and coordinates participation with many different agencies with funding from
the Mounds View Lion's Club.
Irondale Baseball League playoffs for various age divisions will be occurring this weekend. This
will conclude the summer season. An older league has been playing a Fall league which they plan
to continue this year.
Sysco is having their big company party at Silver View this Saturday. Extra portable restrooms
and dumpsters have been ordered to accommodate their event.
