Tom Robinson from River Oaks Communications will be conducting the telecommunication needs
assessment. The purpose of the assessment is to provide an analysis of the current and future
needs of telecommunications for the general public at large, community groups, large employers,
etc. I have included the time line of the NSCC Telecommunications needs assessment which
outlines the project activities involved with the assessment project.
Lynnette
*******************
The League of Minnesota Cities is sponsoring three annual awards programs that highlight the
many unacclaimed contributions of city officials. These include:
• The C.C. Ludwig Award honoring the accomplishments of an outstanding elected official
who displays leadership, an untiring devotion to improving city government, and an
unselfish concern for the public good. The award was established in 1965 in memory of
C.C. Ludwig, League Executive Secretary from 1935-1958
• The Leadership Award honors the accomplishments of an outstanding appointed official
whose leadership inspires the pursuit of excellence in municipal government.
• The City Achievement Awards recognize city innovation and excellence in government.
Award categories include citizen involvement, communications, cooperation and
consolidation, housing and economic development, public safety, and technology.
All entries are judged by a panel of distinguished city officials. April 19 is the deadline for
all nominations. Awards will be presented at the annual conference in Rochester, June 11-
14.
I attended a TUG Safety Committee Meeting on Wednesday afternoon. The Minnesota Safety
Council and Berkley Administrators were there to present information and answer(many)
questions. The information was both very interesting and terribly overwhelming!
Meanwhile, the 1996 Budget Book is trudging along. My computer has often been"crashing"
due to information overload... kind of like what happens to us on Fridays after 5:00.
Bill Summary
Personnel: No time limits for veterans without proper notice
This bill would change the veterans preference law to waive any statute of limitations where a
veteran has not received proper notice of the right to request a hearing.
Omnibus Bill:
Tax Bill
