( PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY <br /> PARKS <br /> • Monday, February 19 was the last day that park buildings were open at the ice skating <br /> rinks. Rinks were open one week longer than scheduled due to money saved from the <br /> cold week when rinks were closed. Rink maintenance has ceased. Park building <br /> reservations for groups will resume. <br /> • Swings are being installed at playgrounds where animal swings were removed last Fall <br /> • Jeff Weinke and Steve Dazenski took their Chemical Applicators Licensing test. <br /> • The crew continues to collect branches broken during the ice storm. <br /> RECREATION <br /> • The March/April City Newsletter has been prepared this week, going to print Friday. <br /> • Mary drove for the WIC program again this week.. <br /> • The Parks and Recreation Commission meets Thursday evening. <br /> • We have a new student office assistant. His name is Josh Brown. He is an Oak <br /> Grove/Irondale High School student that lives in Mounds View. He will be coming in the <br /> office after school about 2:30 p.m. and working until 5:30 p.m. <br /> • Mary chaperoned the School Vacation trip Monday, February 19 -President's Day. This <br /> was a joint program with Arden Hills and Vadnais Heights. <br /> • The Department received three requests from college students for internships in the <br /> Spring/Summer. We have a reputation of being an excellent sponsor for internships, <br /> providing a wide variety of experiences for college near-graduates. Each will be <br /> interviewed and one will be chosen. <br /> • FORESTRY <br /> • The branch pick up has concluded. The City has been swept through entirely once, with <br /> callbacks for those places that were missed. The program has now concluded. Anyone <br /> that missed the branch pickup are being informed that a Spring Cleanup Day will provide <br /> opportunity for them to rid of their branches. <br />
