PERIPHERAL DUTIES <br />• Prepares custom and formula-based departmental reports and distributes copies <br />of reports to City staff as appropriate or as requested. <br />• Notifies City Administrator Community Development Director of any issues needing <br />attention discrepancies or necessary updates to City Zoning Code and other <br />pertinent department-related materials. <br />• Prepares list of license applications for City Council approval as necessary. <br />• Keeps staff members informed of upcoming license renewals, new multiple dwelling owners and <br />registration applications, and inspection schedule changes, which may require particular <br />attention or action. <br />• Distributes license and registration certificates in a timely manner. <br />• Performs notary public duties as necessary. <br />• Keeps appropriate personnel informed of all-important matters, which require immediate <br />attention or action. <br />• Assists in maintaining a favorable image with residents, rental property owners, <br />contractors and others. <br />• Plans work assignments to make the most productive use of available working <br />time. <br />• Has a thorough knowledge of the City's entire physical and electronic filing <br />system. <br />• Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as apparent or as delegated and <br />assisgned. <br /> <br /> <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Education and Experience: <br />(A) Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in <br />general office practices such as typing, filing, accounting and bookkeeping, and <br />(B) Minimum one year experience in a municipal building department or equivalent <br />setting. Permit Technical position preferred. <br />(C) Permit Technician Vocational Certification or two (2) years of increasingly responsible related <br />experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience. <br /> <br />Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: <br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />(A) Strong Working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office <br />applications, including Access electronic data processing; working knowledge of modern <br />office practices and procedures; familiarity with some knowledge of accounting <br />principles and practices. <br />(B) Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment. <br />(C) Ability to provide a successful level of customer service; ability to communicate <br />communication effectively verbally and in writing; ability to handle demanding <br />situations. <br />(D) General Certain knowledge of building codes, zoning codes, permit processes, <br />and associated legal aspects and standards of building. <br />(E) Analytical ability and Critical thinking skills.
