8 <br /> <br /> <br />Only 5 students reported lost cell phones during the first month of the school year, which is <br />quite low considering all the students carrying phones. <br /> <br />Unfortunately, bullying and harassment is still an issue occurring in many of our schools. At <br />Edgewood, this is something that is taken very seriously, so anti-bullying and harassment is <br />still taught to the students. The staff constantly encourages students and their parents to <br />report any type of bullying or harassing behavior. <br /> <br />Canine (K-9) Report <br /> <br />From July 1st to September 30th 2015, the K9 team responded to a total of 66 calls for <br />service. <br /> <br />In July, the K9 team had the following deployments: <br /> <br /> 4 area searches and suspect tracks <br /> 2 narcotics searches <br /> 1 assist in making an arrest. <br /> <br />On July 17th, the K9 team was requested to attend the ceremony for the new Blaine K9 <br />receiving a K9 ballistic vest. The K9 team had previously performed a demo one year earlier <br />for the Blaine Girl Scout troop. The impact of the demo led the Girl Scout troop to pursue the <br />task of raising money for a K9 vest. Our K9 team already had a vest, but Blaine PD was <br />acquiring a new K9 and were in need of a vest. The girl scouts raised the money for the vest <br />and hosted a ceremony at Blaine City Hall. Niko receiving a plaque <br /> <br />On July 31st, the K9 team responded to a home where the home owner had called reporting a <br />male with a felony warrant attempting to get in his house. The male had fled on foot and <br />Officers began a track with Niko. Niko tracked to a detached garage where he located the <br />suspect hiding inside the garage. The suspect was apprehended.
