He explained this vehicle would be used 16
for well buildings, water meters, watermain breaks, and valve repairs. He indicated this was a 17
budgeted expense for 2014. It was noted the current water division truck would be traded in. He 18
reported the expense for the new truck, box and air compressor was $62,234.32. Staff requested 19
the Council approve the purchase of the truck with a 5% contingency. 20
21
Council Member Meehlhause asked why an F350 was being recommended instead of the F250. 22
Public Works Supervisor Peterson indicated the F350 had better suspension and would better suit 23
the needs of the Public Works department. 24
25
Council Member Meehlhause questioned if the current water division truck had an air 26
compressor. Public Works Supervisor Peterson stated the current vehicle did not, but for safety 27
reasons, he was recommending this addition. 28
29
Council Member Mueller requested further information on the proposed super cab. Public 30
Works Supervisor Peterson commented Ford now offered a Super Cab and this would allow for 31
additional storage in the truck. 32
33
Mayor Flaherty inquired why staff was requesting a two-wheel drive truck. Public Works 34
Supervisor Peterson did not believe a four-wheel drive truck was necessary for the water 35
division.
