Mounds View City Council August 11, 2014 <br />Regular Meeting Page 6 <br /> <br />Finance Director Beer answered the Council's questions related to claims. 1 <br /> 2 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Meehlhause. To Approve the Just and Correct Claims as 3 <br />presented. 4 <br /> 5 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 6 <br /> 7 <br />10. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 8 <br /> 9 <br />None. 10 <br /> 11 <br />11. REPORTS 12 <br />A. Reports of Mayor and Council. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Council Member Mueller announced Saturday, August 16th was Festival in the Park. She 15 <br />reviewed the schedule of events planned for the day and invited all to attend this family friendly 16 <br />event. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Council Member Meehlhause explained he would be attending a Northeast Youth and Family 19 <br />Services staff and board member picnic on Friday, August 22nd. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Council Member Gunn provided comment on the events she attended for National Night Out. 22 <br />She explained she discussed potential volunteer opportunities with members attending the 23 <br />events. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Mayor Flaherty believed that National Night Out was a huge success noting he attended seven 26 <br />events with the Chief of Police. He stated a resident asked him if the Council would consider a 27 <br />skate park. The Council agreed to discuss this further at a future worksession meeting. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Council Member Gunn requested the Council consider adding a splash pad to Mounds View as 30 <br />well. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Mayor Flaherty was in favor of updating the City’s website. He requested staff to investigate the 33 <br />expense of completing the trail segment near the library. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Mayor Flaherty commented he attended a meeting of the North Suburban Cable Commission 36 <br />with City Administrator Ericson. He explained the joint powers agreement was discussed, along 37 <br />with City representation. The group decided to allow cities to select their representative and not 38 <br />require that the Mayor or Council Member attend. He reported that the Cable Commission was 39 <br />considering its upcoming budget with the understanding that PEG fees were going to be reduced. 40 <br /> 41 <br />Council Member Mueller thanked the community and Police Department for their show of 42 <br />support after the tragic passing of Officer Patrick. 43 <br /> 44 <br /> B.
