Mounds View City Council March 11, 2013 <br />Regular Meeting Page 4 <br /> <br />for rehiring this position. 1 <br /> 2 <br />Council Member Mueller asked why the candidate had to have a Class B commercial driver’s 3 <br />license with air brake endorsement. Public Works Director DeBar indicated the snow plow 4 <br />trucks and sewer vactor truck were large pieces of equipment with air brakes and required a Class 5 <br />B commercial driver’s license. 6 <br /> 7 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8072, 8 <br />Approving a Revised Position Description and Authorizing Advertisement for Rehiring a 9 <br />Maintenance Worker (Drinking Water) in the Public Works Department. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Council Member Mueller inquired if the City had internal employees interested in this position. 12 <br />Public Works Director DeBar commented the City may have current employees interested 13 <br />however, the Class C driver’s license requirement would have to be met. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Mayor Flaherty thanked the department heads for continuing to reevaluate job descriptions to 16 <br />assure that the positions were updated to meet the City’s current needs. 17 <br /> 18 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 19 <br /> 20 <br />F. Resolution 8073, Approving a Revised Position Description for Seasonal 21 <br />Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Public Works Director DeBar stated seasonal maintenance workers were employed by the City 24 <br />and Public Works Department on a yearly basis and provided a semi-skilled workforce during the 25 <br />peak summer months, while not encumbering the City to pay higher wages and benefits of a 26 <br />permanent employee. He noted the Council approved the hire of seasonal employees for 2013. 27 <br />Staff requested the Council approve a revised position description for the seasonal maintenance 28 <br />worker for the Public Works Department. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Council Member Mueller commended Staff for revising the position description as job 31 <br />responsibilities were now more specified for future candidates. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Council Member Meehlhause also thanked Staff for making the revisions. 34 <br /> 35 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Gunn.
