Mounds View City Council February 13, 2012 <br />Regular Meeting Page 7 <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn commented she spoke with several residents that were concerned with 1 <br />the newspapers piled at the base of the grouped mailboxes. A complaint was made to the Sun 2 <br />Focus and no action has been taken to date. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Council Member Mueller requested the local papers be invited to an upcoming work session to 5 <br />assist with finding a solution to the matter. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Council Member Hull agreed with this suggestion. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Council Member Mueller asked if the City had estimated the expense to install the newspaper 10 <br />tubes onto the mailbox posts. Public Works Director DeBar indicated this has not been 11 <br />estimated but could be reviewed for Area E. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Mayor Flaherty indicated the Council discussed this issue years ago regarding the need to 14 <br />communicate with residents and the newspaper was a tool for this type of communication. He 15 <br />encouraged the residents to request a newspaper tube from the Sun Focus. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Public Works Director DeBar explained another concern at this time was that the mailboxes were 18 <br />grouped and a number of newspapers were sitting in a yard at this time. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Mayor Flaherty encouraged residents to take in their newspapers. 21 <br /> 22 <br />The Council consensus was to not proceed with funding newspaper tubes at this time. 23 <br /> 24 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Hull/Stigney. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7893, 25 <br />Approving the Purchase of Supplies for Grouped Mailboxes for the 2012 Street and Utility 26 <br />Improvement Project – Area E. 27 <br /> 28 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 29 <br /> 30 <br />9. JUST AND CORRECT CLAIMS 31 <br /> 32 <br />Finance Director Beer answered the Council's questions related to claims. 33 <br /> 34 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To Approve the Just and Correct Claims as presented. 35 <br /> 36 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 37 <br /> 38 <br />10. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 39 <br />A. January 9, 2012, City Council Meeting Minutes. 40 <br /> 41 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Stigney. To Approve the January 9, 2012, City Council meeting 42 <br />minutes as presented. 43 <br /> 44 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 45
