Mounds View City Council September 12, 2011 <br />Regular Meeting Page 3 <br /> <br />Planning Associate Heller stated Ordinance 861 would update the City’s Code regarding 1 <br />variances to bring the language into compliance with newly approved State’s regulations. She 2 <br />indicated the Ordinance has been reviewed by the City’s Attorney and Staff recommends 3 <br />adoption. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Mayor Flaherty indicated this was a housekeeping issue that would allow City Code to become 6 <br />aligned with State Statute. 7 <br /> 8 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To Waive the Second Reading and Adopt Ordinance 861, 9 <br />Amending Titles 1000, 1100 and 1200 about Variances and publish the Ordinance summary. 10 <br /> 11 <br />ROLL CALL: Hull/Stigney/Mueller/Gunn/Flaherty. 12 <br /> 13 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 14 <br /> 15 <br />C. Resolution 7825, a Resolution Authorizing the Hire of Neil Hiatt, Public 16 <br />Works Sanitary Sewer Maintenance Worker. 17 <br /> 18 <br />City Administrator Ericson indicated the Public Works Department had a resignation in July of 19 <br />this year. The Council authorized Staff to advertise and hire for this position. The City received 20 <br />over 80 applications and completed a number of interviews. After completing this process, Staff 21 <br />recommended the Council hire Neil Hiatt for the public works sanitary sewer maintenance 22 <br />worker position. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane noted that the drug screening and fitness for duty screening 25 <br />came back satisfactory. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Mayor Flaherty requested Staff read the Resolution for the record. 28 <br /> 29 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Stigney. Resolution 7821, a Resolution in Support of a Proposed Vikings Stadium in 35 <br />Arden Hills. 36 <br /> 37 <br />City Administrator Ericson stated this item was discussed at the last regular Council meeting in 38 <br />August. At that time, the Council was not ready to approve a Resolution of Support. This was a 39 <br />continuation of that discussion. A letter was sent to Ramsey County addressing the City’s 40 <br />concerns and the Resolution proposed this evening could be amended to address these concerns. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Mayor Flaherty reviewed several concerns he had with the Resolution of Support asking that a 43 <br />sound wall be constructed for the City and that in no way would the airport be expanded through 44 <br />the Vikings Stadium development.
