at least a year may take leave to attend school related activities of the employee's child. If the <br /> • employee's child receives child care services as defined in Minnesota Statute §256H.01, subd. 2 <br /> or attends a pre-kindergarten regular or special education program,the employee may use the <br /> leave time to attend an activity or to observe or monitor the services or program. The leave is <br /> only available if the activity cannot be scheduled during non-work hours. Employees must <br /> provide reasonable prior notice of the leave and make an attempt not to disrupt the operations of <br /> the City. This is an unpaid leave; however, employees may use accruedvacation leave. Sick <br /> leave may not be used. A total of 16 hours during a 12 month period is allowed. <br /> Sick or Injured Child Care Leave (MN §181.9413) <br /> Employees are allowed to use personal sick leave benefits on the same terms the employee is <br /> able to use sick leave benefits for the employee's own illness, or for absences due to an illness of <br /> the employee's child for such reasonable periods are the employee's attendance with the child <br /> may be necessary. <br /> Voting Time <br /> All employees are encouraged to exercise their voting privileges in local, state, or national <br /> primary, special or general elections. If the release of employees occurs during a work shift, employees on duty shall be <br /> paid for the full day. <br /> Employees may be advised not to leave the premises because of severe weather or other <br /> emergency conditions continuing after regular working of office hours. Remaining on the <br /> premises after office hours shall entitle employees to overtime compensation unless they remain <br /> to work because they are required by departments to assist during the emergency situation. <br /> When employees in general are not released but an individual faces hardship due to special travel <br /> problems, department heads or those authorized by them to do so may authorize those <br /> individuals not to report for duty, or they may release those individuals requesting to leave early. <br /> In that event, employees must charge the lost time to, vacation time, accumulated compensatory <br /> time, time office without pay or may make up the lost time during the current pay period. <br /> S <br /> When City Hall is officially closed due to weather, City personnel who are required to work <br /> during such time will be paid at their normal overtime rate, or such employees may choose to be <br />
