INFORMATION
. I= Department of Public Health
Division of Solid Waste ONLY
IIIIImiik
• • Zack Hansen,Manager
1670 Beam Avenue,Suite B Tel:612-773-4444
RAMSEY COUNTY, Maplewood,MN 55109-1129 Fax:612-773-4454
May 1, 1997
Ms . Mary Saarion
Parks Director
City of Mounds View
2401 Highway 10 •
Mounds View, MN 55112
Dear Mary:
The City Council, when we met with them at their workshop in March,
requested that we provide a description of our operations at the yard
waste site on Long Lake Road. Since then we have been working with
the County Public Works Department to refine the design for the
improvements to that site, including shifting to a south to north
drive-through approach. Here is a summary of our operations . We hav:
more detailed operations plans, which we can make available upon
recuest . `
1 . Site Dates and Hours
411 In general, the site is open in the spring, summer and fall, for .:3 .
hours per week, five days per week. For 1997 :
* March 31 through November 30, 1997, weather permitting.
* Saturday, 9-5; Sunday, 11-5 .
* Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 3/31-5/31 : 11-7; 6/1-9/29 :
noon-8 ; 10/1-11/30 : 10-6 .
* Closed Tuesday, Thursdays, July 4, Labor Day.
2 . Types of Waste Accepted
* Only soft-bodied plant material is accepted, including leaves,
grass clippings, weeds, and garden waste .
* Brush and other woody waste are not accepted. We provide
customers with information about disposal for these waste types .
3 . Site Users
* Ramsey County residents can bring in their own yard waste and
take finished compost and wood chips . It is not cost-effective
to screen out non-Ramsey residents, so some Anoka County citizens
use the site. We strongly discourage this .
* Lawn services, waste haulers, and other commercial operations are
not allowed to use the sites .
4 . Site Monitor
* A County-employed site monitor is on duty during all hours the
site is open.
411
Minnesota's First Home Rule County
printea on retvctea met with a minimum of 10%oost consumer content
