,
N:1
MEMO •
To: Chuck Whiting
From: Chief Ramacher
Subject: Cat Problems
Date: June 30, 1997
i
Over the years, the City has had very few reported"cat problems". A typical complaint would
be for a stray or injured cat. Since the City has no restrictions on cats, rarely is one impounded.
Regulating cats would create additional expenses for the City. Currently, animal expenses cost us
about three hundred dollars a month. I would guess that regulating cats would increase that
amount by at least one hundred dollars.
When a resident has a problem with a cat(s), we offer to supply them with a live trap. We also
can suggest that we can cite the cat owner(if known) with violation of our Public Nuisance
III
Ordinance. The Public Nuisance Offense generally needs more than one complainant and has to
be well documented to get a conviction.
I would recommend that no changes be made at this time.
•
