• while serving in such capacity. The employee must give any fees received for such <br /> service, with the exception of mileage, to the City. Temporary employees will be given <br /> leave without pay and may retain all fees received. <br /> F. Military Leave (Federal) <br /> Employees who are members of any reserve component of the military forces of the <br /> United States or National Guard, will be granted leaves of absence with compensation <br /> not to exceed 15 working days per yearwhen ordered to training or active service. The <br /> City must receive a copy of the orders from the proper authority directing the employee <br /> to report to duty. Military leave beyond 15 days for service or training will be without pay <br /> as provided by law. <br /> Unpaid Military Leave of Absence <br /> Any employee who engages in active service in any of the military or naval forces of the <br /> state or the United States for which leave is not allowed under the Paid Military Leave of <br /> Absence policy, shall be entitled to Unpaid Military Leave of Absence pursuant to state <br /> and federal laws. <br /> G. Parental Leave For School Related Activities (MN §181.941) <br /> Employees who work an average of 20 or more hours per week and have worked for the <br /> City for at least a year may take leave to attend school related activities of the <br /> employee's child. If the employee's child receives child care services as defined in <br /> Minnesota Statute §256H.01, subd. 2 or attends a pre-kindergarten regular or special <br /> • education program, the employee may use the leave time to attend an activity or to <br /> observe or monitor the services or program. The leave is only available if the activity <br /> cannot be scheduled during non-work hours. Employees must provide reasonable prior <br /> notice of the leave and make an attempt not to disrupt the operations of the City. This is <br /> an unpaid leave; however, employees may use accrued vacation leave. Sick leave may <br /> not be used. A total of 16 hours during a 12 month period is allowed. <br /> H. Sick or Injured Child Care Leave (MN §181.9413) <br /> Employees are allowed to use sick leave for reasonable absences due to the illness of <br /> the employee's child on the same terms as the employee's own illness. <br /> Voting Time (Federal) <br /> All employees are encouraged to exercise their voting privileges in local, state, or <br /> national primary, special or general elections. The employee is permitted reasonable <br /> and necessary paid time off to vote with approval from their Supervisor. <br /> J. Severe Weather Conditions (Clerk Administrator) <br /> As a general policy, City offices will be open for business during regular business hours <br /> regardless of inclement weather conditions. Employees should use their r w <br /> judgement and discretion about factors affecting their health and safety of repOk tgig t <br /> work or leaving work early. If an employee decides that they cannot report to work or <br /> remain at work for reasons of personal health or safety, accommodations will be made <br /> to ensure the employees pay is not reduced as a result of this absence by allowing <br /> employees to use accrued vacation time or compensation time; by modifying work <br /> schedules or by making any other reasonable adjustments with the approval from the <br /> respective department head. <br />
