iNFORMATION <br /> Ethics Committee Meeting Minutes ONLY <br /> • September 8, 1997 <br /> Chair Person: Chuck Whiting <br /> Secretary: Cathy Bennett <br /> Members Present: Tim Brennan, Mike Ulrich, Mary Tatarek, Cathy Bennett, Chuck Whiting <br /> Absent: Steve Dazenski (vacation) <br /> Meeting Dates: Meetings will be held on the second Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m., <br /> one hour in length in conference room A. At least four members need to <br /> be present to hold a meeting. Committee members are encouraged not to <br /> miss meeting times, but if a conflict does arise they should notify the Chair <br /> person as soon as possible. <br /> The purpose of the committee was discussed. The primary purpose is to review proper ethical <br /> behavior in the workplace. Clarifying goals and values and identifying ways to communicate <br /> these through out the workforce will be a primary objective. It was noted that to effectively <br /> develop an ethical framework will take a lot of research and time. Specific outcomes from the <br /> committee may take some time. <br /> The structure of the committee was discussed. It was decided that Chuck Whiting would act as <br /> • the chairperson with Cathy Bennet as the Secretary. Minutes will be posted and put on the Admin <br /> Share Drive within one week from when the meeting was held. Also the minutes will be <br /> distributed to the Council. The agenda form will also be on the Admin share drive and members <br /> can add items that they would like discussed up until 'A hour before the meeting is held. The <br /> Secretary will prepare and distribute the agenda to all members. Secretary will cc the agenda to <br /> Tracy Sanchez as facilitator of City Committee's. Chuck noted that he would like all members to <br /> make this meeting a priority. If any member is unable to attend they should let the Chair know <br /> immediately. <br /> The mission and vision statements that came out of focus 2000 and were signed by staff and the <br /> council in 1994 were discussed. Also the Value Statements that were developed by the present <br /> Council at the strategic planning sessions in 1997 was discussed. The committee reviewed the <br /> effectiveness and relevance of the mission and vision statements. The committee discussed how <br /> the community, council and/or staff are working under the philosophies of the mission and vision <br /> statements currently. <br /> Each member of the committee were given the assignment to review the meaning of the vision <br /> and mission statements. Comments are to be provided to the Secretary by September 30, 1997. <br /> The compilation of comments will be provided back to the members by October 6, 1997. <br /> Discussion on the mission and vision will be the focus of the next meeting. <br /> Next meeting scheduled for Monday, October 13 at 9:00 a.m. in conference room A. <br />
