Economic Development
Attraction:
♦ Update regarding Biotech Company
A few months ago Mounds View sent a proposal to a biotech company
looking to build a corporate headquarters facility and/or manufacturing
facility in the Metro Area. I have been in contact with Metro East
Development Partnership and the company is waiting for financial approvals
before they continue their site selection process. It is expected that the
company will make decisions on potential sites to tour by the end of the
month. I will keep you posted!
♦ Other Metro East Proposals
10,000 s.f. restaurant chain out of Oregon - no decisions made
150,000 s.f. manufacturing facility - current metro area company being
lured by Wisconsin. The company made a decision to purchase property
and build-to-suit in Washington County. At least the $'s and jobs stayed
in Minnesota!
3,000 s.f. manufacturing facility for an automotive equipment company.
Still reviewing information.
Local News:
♦ Addie Lane Floral has changed owners. The new owner is Carol Johnson
from Coon Rapids. She is excited about the store and is very willing to
participate in networking activities in the community. You may have noticed
her handing out carnations in the parade at Festival in the Park.
♦ According to Delane Welsch, a new EDC member, we should be proud of
Super America in Mounds View who are the highest sellers of gas in the
entire Twin Cities Metro, 3rd highest in-store sales and are ranked as an
overall top seller for Super America's. I will follow-up with the manager of
Super America to congratulate him and prepare a press release on the "Good
News" of Mounds View!
Outreach:
♦ I met with NSP representatives David Schwartz, Customer Service Manger
and John Jensvold, Economic Development Representative last week. I gave
them a tour of the golf course and the Mounds View business park. Mr.
Jensvold currently is working with a biotech company looking to lease 15,000
s.f. in the north Metro area. Therefore, I gave him information regarding the
Mounds View Business Park South space next to Medtronic. In addition,
learned of NSP programs that assist cities with marketing and low income
housing which we will pursue.
