and will be delivered by a student group the first weekend in
August.
IMPLEMENTATION OF PROACTIVE STREETLIGHT PLAN
The first year of installing streetlights according to the
proactive streetlight plan adopted by the Council in 1993 has been
initiated with NSP. By the end of the year, 10 new streetlights
will be added throughout the City based on the Police Department's
needs assessment.
COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY
Work has been done in striving for the goals of having a system
wide tape backup for all network connected computers and accessing
information from the file server via modem. It is the goal to have
these two projects operable by the end of the year.
PROGRAM BUDGET
Drafts of the new program style budgets and Long Term Financial
Plan were prepared for Council consideration. The budgets I was
responsible for included Central Services, MIS, Human Resources and
Public Information.
PART-TIME FIRE FIGHTERS
At the urging of the Mounds View, Spring Lake Park, Blaine, Fire
Chief, the City of Mounds View considered allowing City Staff to
serve as fire fighters due to a shortage of daytime help. It was
determined the time commitment was too great and would be too
disruptive to conducting City business.
LIQUOR LICENSE FEE RESTRUCTURING
At the request of a proprietor in the City, Council has been
reviewing the liquor license fee structure to determine if it could
be made more fair and equitable.
OTHER
LMC ANNUAL CONFERENCE
In June, the League hosted its annual conference, this year in St.
Paul. I had the honor of presenting an innovative service delivery
idea to the audience and elected to share Mounds View's Focus 2000
project.
LMC IMPROVING SERVICE DELIVERY COMMITTEE
In July I was appointed to the League of Minnesota Cities policy
committee entitled Improving City Service Delivery. I was also
appointed to the Government Innovation and Cooperation task force.
