6. Parks crew has been assisting with equipment deliveries, etc for the Safety Camp.
7. THE PARKS LOOK GREAT. TAKE TIME TO DRIVE AROUND AND OBSERVE
HOW BEAUTIFUL THEY ARE - ASSETS TO NEIGHBORHOODS. ANY GIVEN
• WEEKDAY EVENING I GUARANTEE THAT ACTIVITY IS GOING ON IN EACH
OF THE PARKS. (Except perhaps Woodcrest).
RECREATION:
1. Safety Camp has been great fun! Brad and Mary have been out at Lakeside all week.
The playground leaders are doing a fine job. Brad has done a terrific job on this, his
internship project. The program itinerary is attached.
2. The public hearing on the park acquisition and development was a big disappointment to
staff - having the opinion that it would have been a wonderful asset for the community.
We could have really used that youth ballfield! I have tucked away the grant in the filing
cabinet for now.
3. The Fall Recreation Program of activities are being planned by staff. We need to gear
our thinking to school time and cooler weather / indoor and outdoor activities.
CABLE TV:
1. The podium for the Council Chambers has been installed and the camera installation has
been contracted through EPA. Hopefully they will be able to come out soon and
complete this project.
2. Several people have been doing taping of the Safety Camp. Both Stephanie Linke and
Jerry Skelly Sr. have been taping. Hopefully Jerry Jr. will be able to edit a nice program
on this special event.
FORESTRY:
I. Rick has indicated that we have preliminarily been notified that we are receiving a grant
of approximately $3,500 for planting trees along the area between the highway wall and
Long Lake Road, Rick was thinking larger pines and oaks. We will need to come to the
council for a match of $1,000 at a later date.
2. Lots of calls on marked disease trees coming in from property owners.
Mary Saarion
