The old <br />high intensity infrared heaters are burning out and are not nearly as efficient as newer <br />tube style. Staff is also researching the possibility of installing used oil burning units to <br />use as primary heat, and maintain the old system. Since the city has a used oil supply on <br />hand, purchasing oil burners may be a very cost effective alternative. <br />Estimated cost: $ AGOG $25,000. Fleet Services, Building and Equipment Maintenance. <br />STREETS <br />1995 <br />The city plans to continue to update the skidloader on an annual basis as long as this <br />program is offered. This has proven to be wise investment for this piece of equipment. <br />The city receives a new skidloader with the latest updates, warranties, and safety features <br />for less than the cost of yearly scheduled maintenance. <br />Estimated cost: $ 500 (equal expenditure in parks and water). This position was addressed in the 1994 LTFP <br />staffing level projection. The addition of this position will lessen the amount of projects <br />and programs that are contracted. <br />Estimated cost: $ 5,000. Streets Division, Pavement Management. <br />1996 <br />t winter staff experimented with the addition of liquid calcium chloride to rock salt <br />used in deicing operations. The results were extremely successful in that the amount of <br />salt applied was reduced and the melting action at lower temperatures was also increased. <br />Staff is requesting a storage tank and dispensing system for this operation. <br />Estimated cost: $ 3,000.
