Mounds View City Council
Regular Meeting
Page Thirteen
July 25, 1994

Ms. Hanson stated that Silver View Park is beautiful but it is not accessible.

Ms. Hanson asked the Council to consider their feelings. Ms. Hanson asked for a show of hands
of those who disagreed with a park being put in at that location.

Councilmember Trude asked the size of Hanson's lot. Mr. Belisle owns the park directly west of
Ms. Hanson's property.

Mayor Linke stated that Mr. Belisle's property is between Hanson's land and the park.

Roy Smith, 3016 Woodale Drive, stated that once his family and
surrounding families are raised and there was no park and now they want to put a park in.

Mayor Linke explained that the property was not available at that time.

Mr. Smith stated he is opposed to the park because of noise.

Mayor Linke stated that he lives near a big park in the City and does not see the noise problem.

Mr. Smith stated he now can't retire there because of the park.

Mayor Linke asked if Mr. Smith wanted a park when he was raising his kids but Mr. Smith stated
he had a big yard and didn't need a park.

Mr. Larson stated again that the residents were opposed to the park.

Mayor Linke stated that the Council is looking at the first step which is getting the grant.

Mr. Larson stated that it is almost like the budget hearing where this is not a done deal. Mr.
Larson stated it can be stopped now and what the people are saying is that we appreciate that your
telling us about the park but we don't want the parks. Mr. Larson stated that the park
is not needed.

Gene Erickson, 2948 Woodale Drive, stated that his concerns are that the Council should be
responsible and good stewards of City taxpayer's tax dollars and wondered if that was a good use.
Has attended budget hearings and now talking about $25,000 or $50,000 and the other grant money
is coming out of the other pocket. Facility not needed and area doesn't want it.

Diamond has a fifth grader and has never had a problem accessing any of the parks. What
happended to ice skating park at Woodcrest? Is it maintenance dollars for park City already has.
Doesn't see need for another park. Does T-ball and baseball and has no problem.
