The Economic Development Commission (EDC) was established in 1994 <br />under the Economic Development Authority. The EDC vie is a seven <br />member commission made up of members of the community and business <br />representatives, charged with reviewing matters relating to fostering a <br />positive economic climate, encouraging economic development, and <br />enhancing the tax base of the City. <br />T e Highway , 0 Corridor T k Bate i ,.a The <br />.7 <br />Council has also directed the EDC to evaluate the redevelopment of <br />Highway 10 and other main thoroughfares into Mounds View. The Task <br />Ferree EDC will reviews and makes recommendations on the potential <br />users for the corridors and current incompatible uses. In addition, the <br />Task Force will review funding mechanisms for the redevelopment of the <br />corridor. (6/29/94, Revision 1) <br />It is also anticipated that a The Marketing Task Force will be created in 1994 to <br />generate fresh ideas for a positive image of the City of Mounds View. Items <br />include entrance and exit signs, new slogan and marketing pieces. The Marketing <br />Task Force will meet. on a monthly basis and make recommendations to the City <br />Council" on an as needed basis through February 1995. The Marketing Task <br />Force will then conclude their participation in the process with written <br />recommendations in a two-phase process to increase the positive image of <br />Mounds View over the next five years. The recommendations will include specific <br />funding mechanism and design ideas. (6/29/94, Revision 1) <br />The Charter Commission, although not an official commission of the City, has been very <br />active during 1993 1994 working on charter revisions. The City has provided staff support <br />throughout the Charter Commission's work and it is anticipated that staff support will <br />continue until completion of the Charter Commission's update of the City Charter. <br />In, response to the FOCUS 2000 recommendations, additional Task Forces will be <br />created in the next five years to explore such topics as the <br />redeveloper volunteer activities in the community and housing and neighborhood <br />preservation and enhancement. <br />4 <br />
